Robert Plant’s Country Hideaway: Exquisite Mansion on Sale for £2.5 Million

Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant The property where he used to live as a getaway retreat is now listed for sale at £2.6 million.

The frontman of the English rock group resided in the Grade II-listed manor house located in Penallt, Monmouthshire, throughout the 1980s prior to his relocation.

Potential buyers looking to acquire The Argoed, which includes 10 acres of land featuring an arboretum and stables, can also claim ownership of a piece of history as it was visited by Charles I during the Civil War period.

This is also where George Bernard Shaw penned 'The Man of Destiny' and 'Mrs. Warren's Profession.'

The kitchen, featuring an electric AGA, now sits at the center of the house and is encircled by five living areas.

A stairway ascends to the upper level, which houses the main bedroom featuring spacious Victorian-style windows along with an attached bathroom equipped with a standalone bathtub.

Additionally, there is a guest suite featuring wooden paneled walls, alongside five more rooms distributed throughout the entirety of the second floor.

The gardens are included in the Cadw Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales, which is managed by the Welsh heritage organization Cadw.

It is a classic countryside manor combining lawns, bushes, and flower beds, offering expansive vistas over the valley.

Additionally, there is a Japanese garden arranged around a water element, along with an open-fronted loggia.

Knight Frank estate agents stated: "The Argoed is a stunningly decorated and impressive, Grade II listed, three-story countryside residence."

The heart of the estate traces back to the Jacobean era.

This unique property is situated on roughly 10 acres, offering stunning vistas, an extensive arboretum, and a grand stable complex.

The renowned architectural historian, John Newman, succinctly referred to The Argoed as "enticing."

This follows another instance where a previous residence of Mr. Plant made news last month when its new owner shared their thoughts. He plans to transform the cottage along with the surrounding land into his own micronation.

In the 1950s, the Bron-Yr-Aur cottage served as a vacation house for Mr. Plant’s family prior to his return there with fellow band members during the 1970s.

In the 1970s, when they were staying at the cottage, Led Zeppelin utilized this place as an oasis for composing new tunes and avoiding the throngs of admirers who constantly trailed after them across the nation.

It was amidst this picturesque backdrop that the band penned several of their renowned tracks, such as "Stairway to Heaven" and "Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp."

The cottage has since transformed into a legendary site within rock history and draws thousands of enthusiasts annually.
