Our Neighbor’s Monster Mansion: A Scandal Next Door!

Local residents have condemned a 'monstrosity' house that is being built and threatens to ruin their spectacular vistas of an idyllic moorland area.

Residents have labeled the choice to permit the new construction in the town of Blackrod, Greater Manchester, as 'insane.'

A number of residents who have resided in the neighborhood for over five decades mentioned that the new house would obstruct their vistas of the picturesque Rivington Pike hilltop nearby.

However, the construction close to the scenic overlook was endorsed by Bolton Council, even though there was strong local resistance and protests from Blackrod Town Council.

Retired security guard Vincent Walden, 88, who has resided in his home with his wife Gladys for 65 years, stated: "This idea is crazy."

'We love the view It would be over to Rivington Pike from our garden, but this action would ruin it. The council’s choice to proceed with construction is sheer lunacy.

It's really distressing. It will be terrible once it's constructed.

Construction workers are presently active at the location, which comprises two formerly distinct parcels acquired by Barry Jackson — he declined to speak about the controversy surrounding it.

Disturbing pictures reveal an overwhelmingly big construction project advancing unsettlingly near a neighbor's boundary.

At this initial phase, it creates a somber blotch within the neighboring plot that would otherwise be bathed in sunlight.

However, the planning officer handling the submission for the project stated in their documentation that the proposals adhere to the specified constraints regarding structure elevation and closeness to neighboring properties.

Ms. Lisa Eatock, Mr. Walden's neighbor who is 52 years old, stated: "This is an absurd choice for construction in this area. It will spoil our magnificent vista and seems completely incongruous with the surroundings."

David Anderton, aged 75, stated: "This is an absurd choice, permitting such an eyesore."

We're all upset because it will ruin our vista. This shouldn’t have been permitted.

Rivington Pike has long been a favorite spot for hillwalkers, offering views of landmarks such as Blackpool Tower, the Cumbrian Fells in the Lake District, and sometimes even the Isle of Man when the weather cooperates.

Previously home to a beacon, this hilltop—readily seen from Blackrod, merely a 20-minute drive distant—is currently distinguished by a historically significant Grade II-listed tower constructed in 1733 as a hunting retreat.

However, the latest construction poses a threat to Blackrod residents' views of the scenic area, according to IT professional Christine Dixon, aged 57, who stated: "A majority of people have raised objections against it."

'The size is simply disproportionate and doesn’t suit the surroundings.'

'This will completely spoil the vistas towards the moors for many individuals and will lead to traffic and accessibility issues.'

Her neighbor Joan Calderbank, aged 77, commented, "This is an insane decision to permit such a thing. We enjoy a beautiful vista here, but it will now be spoiled."

It's quite a disheartening event to experience.

Student Jess Dobson, aged 28, commented: "I am astonished by the magnitude of it. It seems like an additional large residence. I expected it would merely be an extension."

The parking around this area is already problematic, and the noise levels will only increase.

John Price, an independent councillor from Blackrod town, stated: "This is a outrageous decision. Despite our objections, Bolton Council went ahead and approved it."

I sympathize with the residents. Despite being wonderful individuals, they believe their opinions have been completely disregarded.

'A number of individuals will now have others peering into their bedrooms.'

It is highly improbable that this will be overturned at this point.

It's really disappointing that so many people will lose the beautiful view of Rivington.

A mother with two young daughters stated: "This is unbelievable. We will need to keep the curtains in our daughters' room shut."

'Many individuals are quite displeased with the decision.'

The Bolton Council has been asked for their input.
