Man Extorts $680K Using Niece and Fake Thumb in Delhi's Biggest Racket; Police Make Arrest

New Delhi [India], April 28 (ANI): Delhi Police have uncovered an unusual blackmail scheme where a man reportedly involved his young niece and fabricated a rubber thumb to extort Rs five crore from someone he knew. Delhi Police mentioned that three suspects have been detained, including one juvenile in the case.

The registration of the case took place on April 16. Jagatpuri Police Station , citing Clause 308(5) of the BNS.

As stated by DCP Shahdra Prashant Gautam, the person who filed the complaint mentioned getting an unusual package with a menacing letter, a smartwatch, and what appeared to be a realistic-looking thumb made of silicone inside a clear container. The delivery was reportedly done by a young female individual. Given the seriousness of this situation, a specialized unit was formed under the oversight of ACP VV and SHO Jagatpuri to urgently solve the case efficiently.

More than 600 surveillance cameras were thoroughly examined, enabling authorities to follow the delivery path and pinpoint the girl involved. The juvenile, known as 'X,' was detained and, adhering to procedures outlined in the Juvenile Justice Act, transferred to the Girl’s Observation Home at Nirmal Chhaya, within Tihar Jail premises.

Additional monitoring resulted in the arrest Regarding the primary accused, Abhishek Jain, nearby Jagatpuri Police Station During questioning, Jain admitted to orchestrating the scheme to blackmail money from his associate, Vikas Jain, someone he had been acquainted with for thirty years.

Abhishek Jain confessed to buying a plastic thumb from IndiaMart for INR 3,500 and a smartwatch for INR 500 from a store in Dilshad Garden. He mentioned recruiting extra helpers for INR 35,000 as well as getting assistance from his niece along with a relative named Sachin Jain to carry out their plot. During the event itself, Abhishek explained the strategy to the juvenile involved, demonstrated where the victim lived, and directed the package drop-off while keeping himself discreetly away.

After Jain’s revelations, another person implicated, Sachin Jain from Balbir Nagar, Shahdara, was likewise detained. Further into the probe, they added charges under Section 61(2) BNS. Both individuals have appeared before the court and were placed in judicial custody.
