Kamagu: Homestead & Safari Lodge – International Edition (English)

Kamagu Homestead & Safai Lodge

The Kamagu Homestead & Safari Lodge is an ideal location for a family vacation.

I found myself falling in love with numerous aspects during my recent tour organized by the Touwsrivier Tourism Association.

What caught my eye initially was the meticulous attention paid to each space within this rustic yet sophisticated safari-inspired farmhouse lodge. It masterfully blends contemporary comforts with the refined and opulent aesthetics of antique furnishings and decorations from times gone by.

Accommodation at Kamagu Homestead & Safari Lodge

The homestead is a private residence for rent that can accommodate as many as 17 guests (9 adults and 8 children) within a vast 5000-hectare farm setting.

Each room is elegantly designed, and here are:

3 double rooms

1 twin room

1 single room

Each room comes with an attached bathroom featuring a shower.

Kamagu boasts the most elegant communal space designed specifically for children, featuring four sets of double bunk beds and kid-friendly decorations.

The walls adorned with antique suitcase shelves alongside stacks of books and puzzles serve as a reminder that kids continue to be at the core of our households.

Activities to enjoy at Kamagu Homestead & Safari Lodge

Visitors can make use of the indoor built-in braai facility, an outdoor kitchen equipped with a pizza oven, as well as a fire-pit boma.

The facility includes a spacious swimming pool equipped with a sauna and Jacuzzi.

There is a sizable wooden playground structure for the children along with an expansive green space where they can run around and have fun.

Visitors can also take advantage of a library, a colonial-style lounge, and a billiards room equipped with a bar and TV for watching sports.

Step outside to revel in the abundance of fruit trees and a vegetable garden cultivated exclusively for your enjoyment.

Visitors can interact with the farm animals such as rabbits, geese, hens, ostriches, and bucks.

Kamagu boasts numerous dams where you can go fishing, or spend a day taking a game drive at the Aquila Private Game Reserve.

You can reserve your accommodation here. Touwsrivier Tourism

Important to note

Kamagu was previously used as a hunting reserve. However, they do not support trophy hunting, and the animal trophies displayed within the property do not reflect the ethos of Kam Agu Homestead.

The homestead came equipped with animal trophy decorations, and during the renovation of the property, these trophies were preserved as an integral part of the estate’s history and legacy. They also served to narrate the narrative about regional food origins and Kamagus' journey toward eco-friendly living.
