Sarah Hall Launches National Skills University: A New Era in Education
On Wednesday, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Ms. Wajiha Qamar celebrated an important achievement in women’s education with the official launch of Sarah Hall—a new residence hall exclusively for women—at North South University (NSU). This inaugural event brought together members from the academic community including administrators, professors, and pupils, marking more than just the completion of a structure; rather, it signified a stronger dedication towards empowering women via secure and welcoming learning environments.
"The inauguration of Sarah Hall isn’t merely about a structure," stated Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar during his introductory speech.
It conveys a message: that the daughters of Pakistan should have not just a spot in the classroom but also the dignity, safety, and resources needed to flourish there.
Sarah Hall boasts 18 fully equipped rooms, along with amenities such as a television lounge, communal dining area, contemporary kitchen facilities, and an advanced hybrid solar backup system designed to maintain continuous electricity supply. The property also offers broadband internet access and a specialized recreation zone, aligning perfectly with NSU’s commitment to comprehensive growth among female undergraduates. Upon her tour, Ms. Qamar toured the premises, interacted with inhabitants, and commended the institution for its focus on enhancing student life.
She praised the inclusion of a Daycare Center on site, describing it as "a crucial aid for employed women and an indication of progressive campus design."
During her visit, the Minister went to the Noor-e-Ilahi Garden, which was designed as an outdoor area specifically for female students to learn and relax. It was there that she planted a fig tree, representing development, perseverance, and the firm foundation of women’s presence in education.
"Sarina Hall transcends mere lodging; it embodies a home, a sign of respect, and a catalyst for advancement," stated Ms. Qamar. She carefully listened to the narratives and worries shared by the students, reassuring them that the administration continues to uphold its dedication to comprehensive and fair educational improvements.
During a subsequent gathering with faculty and staff, the Minister highlighted her commitment to broadening technology and skill-oriented education throughout Pakistan, aiming for a future where every societal sector progresses together.
Professor Mukhtar expressed his gratitude to Miss Qamar for her assistance, emphasizing her contributions towards implementing reforms that strengthen student empowerment via practical educational methods and cutting-edge learning spaces.
Sarah Hall has become a symbol of the university's commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for women, mirroring a wider national story of advancement, respect, and equal education opportunities.
