Man's Terrifying Plunge Through Decking Leaves Foot Broken
A man ended up with a fractured foot after falling through his decayed garden deck while hanging laundry.
During an accident at his residence in Penrhyndeudraeth, Wales, Scott Eaves fractured his foot and crashed his face into the ground while dressed only in his dressing gown and slippers.
The man, who is 48 years old, had to stay in the hospital for eight hours following the accident. He experienced bleeding from his nose and ended up with a swollen lip when he tried to enjoy a pleasant spring day but things went wrong instead.
The event, captured by his surveillance system, did not appear severe at first as Mr. Eaves managed to get back up following the initial surprise. However, he subsequently discovered that his right foot was fractured.
Even though he can joke about it now, Scott admitted that he feels somewhat 'concerned' about doing laundry from now on.
Presently without medical employment, Mr. Eaves stated: "This business of hanging laundry outside is risky—I might require a hard hat just to do the dishes from now on."
'When I hang it, there are some stairs leading upwards, and there was decayed decking there that I wasn’t aware of.'
I have no strength in my right leg due to problems with my back.
So it simply collapsed, and I plunged through, ending up with a forehead hit against the stairs which also resulted in breaking my right foot.
'I managed to find some humor in it later on, but it was quite painful at the time.'
I haven’t decided yet what to do with the deck, but I’m more concerned about drying laundry outside—I’d rather avoid venturing out there right now.
Following the incident, he went to the hospital on account of the mishap that occurred last Thursday, April 10, where doctors informed him that he had fractured his foot.
He stated: "I went to the hospital and was there for eight hours."
I got an X-ray, but when I was awaiting the results, I had to depart since I couldn't remain seated due to my back discomfort.
While heading home, the hospital informed me that it was fractured, so I plan to return tomorrow for the boot fitting.
As far as I'm aware, my nose wasn't fractured, but I experienced a severe nosebleed along with a swollen lip.
This isn't the first instance where CCTV has captured amusing moments that perhaps should have remained unseen by many of us.
A year ago, Laura Staunton's Ring doorbell recorded the incident when several workers toppled over following a tug-of-war with a manhole cover, as seen through a homeowner's security camera.
The mother-of-three said the bizarre video made her 'burst out laughing' at work after she received the notification on her phone.
The clip starts with one man perched inside the drain while the remaining five position themselves in a row, gripping the rope in a manner reminiscent of a game of tug-of-war.
The clip starts with one man seated in the drainage area while the remaining five position themselves in a row, gripping the rope in a manner reminiscent of a tug-of-war setup.
However, once they start pulling too soon, the man in the drain seems to yell, "Hold on a moment, can you wait? — for crying out loud, both of you."
Next comes a 'one, two, three' countdown, after which the men start pushing with all their might.
It seems like the person inside the drain is using their foot to kick an object down the drain as someone else pulls from outside.
It remains unclear what the men were attempting to extract from the drain, as it wouldn’t budge.
Following seven seconds of tugging on the rope, it broke from the strain, causing the men to tumble backward in a disarrayed pile.
One man was propelled backward by the abrupt force and ended up plunging headfirst into an evergreen shrub.
A metallic rod, apparently employed to assist with gripping the rope, almost struck another man’s head as he tumbled onto the ground.
Following a brief moment where the workers looked at one another in shock, the individual on the ground remarked, "I figured that was about to hit me right in the face."
The clumsy employees subsequently appear to find humor in their mishap and start laughing boisterously.
Following the viewing of the video, Ms. Staunton, who works in logistics, commented: "I was preoccupied with my tasks at hand and initially disregarded the notifications. However, since it persisted in making noise, I decided to check what it was about."
I started laughing uncontrollably and shared it with my boss. Later, when I returned home and noticed the second guy almost tumbling into the shrubbery, I couldn't help but laugh again.
Everyone found it amusing, and fortunately, nobody was injured.
They had replaced the gravel, so without the doorbell video, I wouldn’t have known anyone was there at all.
I wish I had communicated with them via the Ring.
Later, they passed by again and were still giggling.'
