The Bengaluru Additional Commissioner of Police for the East region, Vikas Kumar, informed ANI, stating, “Around 4:00 to 4:30 PM on Sunday afternoon, we received news regarding the passing away of our ex-DGP and IGP Om Prakash. We have reached out to his son who is currently providing us with a statement concerning this event, following which an FIR will be filed.”

ACP Kumar stated that the reasons for the murder are still ambiguous, and no arrests have been reported so far.

"Once the case is registered, an extensive investigation will commence. No immediate arrests have been made. The preliminary inquiry indicates that the matter could be of an internal nature," he noted.
